ağırlıklı anyonik flokülant (350 A) ile 10,4 mg/l dozajında elde edilmiştir. Optimum
In this study, it is aimed to reduce the energy cost in the filtration of the clay
which is processed by Eczacıbaşı Esan in Bozüyük and used in casting and solid-liquid
separation time. In order to achieve these, the flocculation characteristics of the clay
such as the surface charge of clay particles were measured using Zeta Meter.
Flocculation performance was evaluated according to the remaining turbidity value of
the sample and the sedimentation rate of the flocks.
In the first stage of the experimental studies, the surface charge of the casting
clay was determined by electro kinetic mobility measurements and at all of the pH
values the surface charge measured to be negative. In the second stage, sedimentation
tests were carried out in three different solid ratio of clay sample; it was observed that
there was no sedimentation in the solid ratio of the sample taken after 24-hour waiting
period and that there is decomposition in the 3% solid ratio. In the third phase,
flocculation tests were carried out in order to determine for the most appropriate
flocculant type. It was determined that using 10.4 mg/l anionic flocculant (350 A) of
high molecular weight the lowest turbidity value to be 17 NTU for suspension of 3%
solid ratio. After determining the optimum flocculant type, flocculation tests were
carried out in different pH values again and the best result was obtained in suspension
having 3% solid ratio and at natural pH.
As a result, precipitation of clay from suspension having plant solid ratio with
flocculants produced poor results the tests with 3% and 5% solid ratio were successful,
however the best results were obtained with the turbidity value by using lesser amount
of polymers in the 3% solid ratio.
