bulgular, Greenwood ve Jovanovic (1990)’in ters-U hipotezini destekleyen önemli
kanıtlar sunmaktadır. Ayrıca ekonomik gelisme ve gelir esitsizliği arasındaki
Kuznets (1955)’in ters-U hipotezi de desteklenmektedir. Bu bulgulara göre finansal
ve ekonomik gelismenin baslangıç asamalarındaki ülkelerde devletin gelir
esitsizliğini azaltıcı politikalara ağırlık vermesi gerektiği ön plana çıkmaktadır.
This study examines that the relationship between financial development and
income inequality by using panel data of 94 countries for the period 1995-2011. The
relationship between financial development and income inequality is tested for four
differrent panels that is divided as low and low-middle income countries, uppermiddle
income countries, high income countries and all counries. The results support
the linear negative hypothesis for only high income countries. Therefore, financial
development has a detrimental effect on income inequality in low and low-middle
income and upper-middle income countries while it decreases the income inequality
in high income countries. Moreover, the results present the important evidences
supporting the Greenwood ve Jovanovic (1990) inverted U-shaped hypothesis. Also
the Kuznets (1955)’s inverted U-shaped hypothesis is supported by results.
Accordinto these results, the governments should attach importance to the policy
decreasing income inequality on initial stages of financial and economic
development.
