Stadiums are the places in which the members of the society come together and socialize. However, due to their high capacities, they may lead to some serious transportation problems. Despite these problems in our country, most of the stadiums are still completed without an essential traffic survey and a plan. The complications following the completion of the stadiums are tried to be solved by the trial and error method. In this study, the relation between stadiums and the cities are primarily discussed. Then, the advantages and disadvantages of the stadiums’ places – in or out of the cities – are explained. Afterwards, the planning methods of the stadiums’ parking areas and access roads are examined. Various national and international standards and regulations were investigated. Furthermore, the stadium plan which is going to be constructed in Eskişehir was examined. The car park and traffic analyses of the stadium were examined manually and by the demo of the Vissim Traffic Simulation software. According to the results of this study, it was seen that there is no obligation of traffic surveys for stadium constructions and this situation leads to serious problems. Additionally, the particular points which must be considered while conducting the traffic surveys (manually or by the simulation software) are tried to be determined.
