Yapısal Eşitlik modelleri (YEM), gözlenen değişkenlerin lineer bileşimi olarak
yazılabilen çok sayıda içsel ve dışsal gizil değişkeni birlikte ele alan bir modelleme
yöntemidir. Bu yüzden, YEM araştırmalarında model uyumunun değerlendirilmesi
zorlu bir konudur. YEM’de model uyumunun deneysel olarak değerlendirilmesi ve
istatistiksel tahminlerin elde edilmesinde Monte Carlo (MC) simülasyonu yaygın olarak
kullanılmaya başlanmıştır.
Bu tez çalışmasında, model belirlemesinin, örneklem hacminin ve tahmin
yönteminin YEM’de kullanılan uyum ölçütlerine etkisi, bir MC simülasyonu
düzenlenerek araştırılmıştır. Bu deneysel düzende, veriler EQS programı yardımıyla, bir
kitle kovaryans matrisinden üretilmiş ve farklı model belirlemesi (doğru model, az
yanlış model, orta derecede yanlış model) durumlarındaki YEM modellerine
uydurulmuştur. Rehberlik etmesi amacıyla, örneklem hacmi, tahmin yöntemi ve model
belirlemesinin uyum ölçütleri üzerindeki etkisi değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada, örneklem
hacminin 6 düzeyi (50, 100, 200, 400, 800 ve 1600), tahmin yönteminin ise 3 düzeyi
(En Çok Olabilirlik (ML), En Küçük Kareler (LS) ve Genelleştirilmiş En Küçük Kareler
(GLS)) incelenmiştir. En çok kullanılan 11 uyum ölçütü üzerinde çalışılmış ve
araştırmacılara bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is a modeling technique that can handle a
large number of endogenous and exogenous variables, as well as latent variables
specified as linear combinations of the observed variables. Because of this reason, the
assessment of model fit in structural equation modeling (SEM) has long been a difficult
issue in SEM applications. The use of Monte Carlo (MC) simulations for empirical
assessment of statistical estimators and model fit is becoming more common in
structural equation modeling.
In this thesis study, a Monte Carlo simulation study was conducted to investigate
the effects on structural equation modeling (SEM) fit indices of, model specification,
sample size and estimation method. Based on balanced experimental design, samples
were generated from a population covariance matrix and fitted to structural equation
models with different degrees of model misspecification (true, slightly misspecified or
moderately misspecified models) with EQS software. To provide guidance, to evaluate
the effects of estimation method, sample size and model specification on eleven fit
indices. Six levels of sample size (50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600) and three levels of
estimation method (Maximum Likelihood (ML), Least Square (LS) and Generalized
Least Square (GLS)) were examined. The most common eleven SEM fit indices are
studied and some recommendations for practitioners given.
