Gas atomization method is widely used for metal powder production. This method is nowadays being investigated in order to increase the efficiency of metal powder production. The most important factor affecting the success of the atomization method is the nozzle geometry. Nozzle geometry has the parameters of throat opening, the throat area, nozzle angle and protrusion length. In this study, the gas flow behavior of the nozzle was modeled using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. The most efficient nozzle design was tried to determine by discussing the melt base tip pressure, gas flow rate, and gas speed. According to the best determined design, nozzle was produced and the melt base tip pressure values were measured experimentally. It is found that there is 1 – 6 % difference in comparison of experimental data and theoretical Reynolds stress model analysis for the melt flow tube base pressure values. Pure tin, silver amalgam, etial 141, AA 2014 and AA7075 aluminum alloy powders were produced and discussed for the nozzle efficiency. It is found that 10 mm melt tip base diameter has higher nozzle efficiency than 14 mm and 8 mm diameter. Produced powders are spherical in shape and have log-normal powder distribution.
