Üniversite öğrencilerinin matematiğin temellerine ilişkin felsefi görüşleri

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, üniversite öğrencilerinin matematiğin temellerine ilişkin felsefi görüşlerini belirlemektir. Yöntem: Bu çalışmada tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu iki devlet üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 486 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Öğrencilerin görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla araştırmacı tarafından ölçek geliştirilmiştir. Geçerliği ve güvenirliği sağlanan ölçek, çalışma grubuna uygulanarak veriler analiz edilmiştir. Analiz aşamasında parametrik olmayan testler kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Bu çalışmada, öğrencilerin farklı matematik felsefelerini benimsediği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin felsefi görüşlerinin, çeşitli değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Tartışma ve Sonuç: Üniversite öğrencilerinin felsefi görüşleri, cinsiyet ve akademik başarıya göre farklılık göstermezken, bazı dersleri alma durumlarına ve öğrenim gördüğü fakültelere göre farklılık göstermektedir.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the philosophical view of the university students. Method: Descriptive survey method was used in the study. The study was conducted with 486 university students. A scale was developed by the researcher in order to determine students’ views. Data were collected by a valid and reliable scale. Non-parametric tests were used at analysis stage. Results: The findings revealed that the students have different philosophy of mathematics. Meanwhile, according to some variables there are differences among students’ philosophies of mathematics. Discussion and Conclusion: The students’ philosophies of mathematics are similar in terms of gender and academical achievement. But they have different philosophies of mathematics in terms of departments and some lessons related to the nature of mathematics.
