Komplekslerin kapalı formüllerinin [Cu(μ-glu)(im)2]n (1), [Cu(μ-glu)(1-mim)2]n (2), {[Zn(μ-glu)(1-mim)2]·2H2O}n (3), {[Co(μ-glu)(1-mim)2]·2H2O}n (4), [Cd(μ-glu)(1-mim)]n (5), {[Cu(μ-glu)(etmim)2]·H2O}n (6), [Cu(μ-glu)(2-mim)2]n (7), [Cu(glu)(H2O)(bim)3]·H2O (8) şeklinde olduğu belirlendi.
In this study, new eight mixed-ligand complexes of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II)-glutarate with 1-methylimidazole (1-mim), 2-methylimidazole (2-mim), 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole (etmim), benzimidazole (bim) ligands have been synthesized. The synthesized complexes were characterized by using elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibilities, IR and UV-Vis. spectroscopies, single crystal X-ray diffraction. Thermal and photoluminescence properties of the complexes were determined with thermal analysis techniques and photoluminescent spectroscopy, respectively.
In the synthesized complexes, the formula of complexes were determined as [Cu(μ-glu)(im)2]n (1), [Cu(μ-glu)(1-mim)2]n (2), {[Zn(μ-glu)(1-mim)2]·2H2O}n (3), {[Co(μ-glu)(1-mim)2]·2H2O}n (4), [Cd(μ-glu)(1-mim)]n (5), {[Cu(μ-glu)(etmim)2]·H2O}n (6), [Cu(μ-glu)(2-mim)2]n (7), [Cu(glu)(H2O)(bim)3]·H2O (8). Glutarate ligand coordinates to metal ions as pentadentate bridging ligand in 1, monodentate in 8, bidentate bridging in 3 and 4, tetradentate bridging in 2, 5-7. The complexes 1-7 are polynuclear, 8 is mononuclear structures. Cu(II) (1, 2, 6-8) and Co(II) (4) complexes were found to be paramagnetic with one and three unpaired electrons, respectively. Zn(II) (3), Cd(II) (5) complexes were found to be diamagnetic. UV-visible spectra of the complexes was examined and a1 → b1 transition for square pyramidal 8 complex and 4A2g 4T2g ve 4A2g 4T1g (F) transitions were observed for tetrahedral 4 complex which posses d7 configuration. Broad bands about at 548 nm were observed corresponding to 2Eg → 2T2g transition for complexes 1, 2 and 6 having octahedral complexes. Absorption bands weren’t observed for d-d transitions in the spectra of Zn(II) (3) and Cd(II) (5) complexes, which possess d10 configuration. Photoluminescence spectra of the complexes were examined and blue emissions were observed at 421 and 422 nm for 3 and 5 upon exitation at 339 and 344 nm, respectively.
Decomposition stages of complexes were identified by thermal analysis studies. First decomposition stages related to lose water molecules, following stages related to imidazole ligand and its derivatives are partially or completely decomposition. In the final stages, organic residue of complexes exothermally burned. The final decomposition products of complexes were identified as metal oxides.
