In this study; removal of Cr(VI) and dyestuff Remazol Black B from aqueous solution by adsorption onto sugar mill filter waste was investigated. Effect of adsorbent dose, initial solution pH, temperature, initial concentration and contact time on the adsorption of Cr(VI) and dyestuff (Remazol Black B) was examined. The maximum adsorption yield was obtained at the intial pH of 2 for Cr(VI) and pH of 10 for dyestuff. Adsorption yield was increased with the increasing adsorbent amount and temperature. In the isotherm studies, Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models were applied. As a result of isotherm studies it was determined that experimental data confirmed to Langmuir isotherm model (R2=0,999) for Cr(VI) and Temkin isotherm model (R2=0,991) for dyestuff Remazol Black B. In the kinetic studies it was observed that adsorption mechanism conform to pseudo second order kinetic model. When analyzed the thermodynamical data it was indicated that adsorption have negative values of ΔG°, positive values of ΔH° and ΔS°. These thermodynamical results show that adsorption process is spontaneous, endothermic and in the adsorption process irregularity is rising.
