In this study, the electrochemical polishing and titanium dioxide growth techniques
used for improving the surface properties of titanium implant materials were investigated.
Electrochemical polishing experiments were designed with central composite design
(CCD), effects of experimental parameters on surface roughness were determined and
optimization studies were conducted. In order to synthesize titanium dioxide nanotubes,
electrochemical anodization was used. Experiments were designed by using Box-Behnken
design and effects of experimental parameters on nanotube diameter and nanotube length
were analyzed. XRD analysis of heat treated samples at different temperatures were
performed for phase analysis of the nanotubes. Nanotube morphology was analyzed by
scanning electron microscobe (SEM).
Results were analyzed using JMP 12 software. In the electrochemical experiments,
it has been found that main effects (voltage and time) and all the intreractions except
Voltage*Süre interaction affect response. In the nanotube growth experiments, statistical
analysis revealed that Voltage main effect and Voltage*Time interaction affect the nanotube
diameter. Also, it has been found that Concentration, Voltage, Time main effects and
Concentration*Voltage, Concentration*Concentration interactions affect the nanotube
length.
