Matematiksel analizin sonunda elde edilen cebirsel denklem sistemleri MATLAB
programı yardımıyla çözülmüştür. Ayrıca aynı problemler CST Microwave Studio Suite ile
de incelenmiş ve sonuçlar karşılaştırılmıştır
In this thesis work, the analysis of the sudden area expansion in a parallel plate
waveguide is done by Mode Matching Technique. One can consider both analytical and
numerical methods in order to study scattering problems in waveguides, which have been
interesting for researchers for decades. In this thesis, a rigorous method, the Mode Matching
Technique is prefered as it provides highly accurate solutions. In this technique, firstly the
electromagnetics waves in different waveguide regions are expressed in terms of modes and
then they are matched at the discontinuity zones. In problems with a single discontinuity,
Mode Matching Technique is both sufficient and efficient. However, when there are several
discontinuities, although one can again consider solely the Mode Matching Technique, the
arising system of albegraic equations becomes problematic for numerical analysis. That is
why, it is more preferable to consider Mode Matching Technique with Generalized
Scattering Matrix Method. In this thesis, this approach is applied.
The systems of algebraic equations derived with the mathematical analysis are solved
by using MATLAB. Besides, simulations are done in CST Microwave Studio Suite for the
same problems and the results of these two independent methods are compared to each other
