In this research, usage of bifunctional HPhTT and MPhTT fluorophores as crosslinker for polymers and developing materials that can be used for different purposes are reported. Nanotubular self assembled polymeric films with tunable emission wavelength are prepared by cross linking of PVA at different base and dye concentrations. It has been determined that these films are sensitive to acids as a result of their changing optical properties when treated with acid and studies performed with base was proved that they are also sensitive to bases. The sensitivity of the films against cations was also determined by their changing optical properties by treatment with different cations. Another remarkable feature of these smart films is that they cause crystal growth. AuNP, AgNP and PbO crystals were synthesized on the cross-linked film surface without using any reducing agent. The optical properties of the material in the form of nanofibers with increased surface area, were investigated. The sensitivity of fluorescent nanofibers against acid, base and metal cations was determined. AuNC and PbO crystals were synthesized on the surface of nanofibers similar to fluorescence films.
The cross-linkers were used to functionalize epoxy groups in the MPEG-b-PGMA-b-PDEA triblock copolymer. Micellar films prepared in this way were used in drug release.
HPhTT fluorophore was also used as a crosslinker to prepare films from BADGE which is an epoxy resin. It is aimed to develop a material that can be used for optical gain in lasers by dopping fluorescent quantum wells to this polymer structure. The optical gain performances of these composite films were determined. Within the scope of this thesis, materials with potential for use in many different fields such as sensors, nanoreactor, catalysis, drug release, optoelectronics, lasers have been developed
