The purpose of this study is to develop a scale to determine the prob-lem posing self-efficacy perceptions of undergraduate students of education faculty; and by applying this scale, to examine whether the elementary mathematics teaching under-graduate students' perceptions differ according to the factors of gender, grade level, academic average, whether they took problem solving / posing lessons and, if they took, the type of course taken. Method: Two research groups were formed in this study in which the relational scanning model, one of the quantitative research models, was used. The first research group which was formed to develop the Problem Posing Self Efficacy Perception Scale (PPSEPS) composed of 526 undergraduate studentsof elementary school mathematics teaching department from four state universitiesin Turkey. The second research group consisted of 350 undergraduate students of elementary school mathematics teaching department from 17 state universities where the developed scale was applied. Explora-tory Factor Analysis and Cronbach's Alpha coefficient were used to improve the scale. For the analysis of the data collected with the scale; Frequency, Normality Test, Mann Whiyney U Test, Kruskal Wallis H Test and Spearman Brown Rank Differences Test were used.
Results: With the Exploratory Factor Analysis and reliability test, a valid and re-liable PPSEPS which consists of 37 high internally consistent items was obtained. In the study, it was determined that the self-efficacy perceptions of elementary mathematics education undergraduate program students were at a good level. The problem posing self-efficacy perceptions of these students in the study group did not differ significantly according to gender, class level, academic achievement, whether they took problem solving / setting lessons and, if so, the type of course they took. between PPSEPS and its sub-dimensions, Problem Posing Stages (PPS), Strategies and Skills (SS), and Changes While Posing Problems (CWPP) was examined, it was found that there was a moderate positive correlation between the PPS, SS and CWPP scores of the students. On the other hand, a high level of positive correlation was found between PPSEPS scores and PPS, SS and CWPP scores. Conclusion and Suggestions: In this study, it was concluded that PPSEPS is a valid and reliable scale. With this scale, it was determined that the self-efficacy percep-tions of elementary school mathematics education undergraduate students were at a good level. Within the scope of the research, the first suggestion is to apply the scale to different undergraduate students such as secondary school mathematics teaching and classroom teaching, to investigate the results and to compare it with this study. No sig-nificant difference was found according to the factors discussed in this study. In future studies, a detailed study examining the reasons for this result can be done, and the study can be reapplied using other factors. By using the scale developed in this study in other studies, new studies can be conducted in which students' self-efficacy perceptions are examined together with different situations such as attitude and actual performance
