Post- heroik romanda kahraman

Abstract

Heroik çağın en önemli unsuru olan kahraman, post-heroik çağda önemini yitirmiş, bedensel, kişilik ve psikolojik özellikleri bakımından bir düşüş ve çöküş yaşamıştır. Kahramanın dönüşümüyle birlikte edebiyat eserinin yapısının da çözüldüğü görülmektedir. Bu bağlamda kahramanın her yönüyle başkalaşım geçirdiği ve geleneksel önemini yitirdiğine tanık olunmaktadır. Kahraman kavramının post-heroik dönem edebiyatındaki dönüşümünü ele alan bu çalışmanın amacı, Patrick Süskind’in Koku (Das Parfum: Die Geshichte eines Mörders, 1985) ve Chuck Palahniuk’in Çarpışma Partisi (Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey, 2007) adlı romanlarında, kahramanın edebi süreçte nasıl bir dönüşüm geçirdiğini edebi ve kültürel göstergelerle ortaya koymaktır. Alman ve Amerikan edebiyatlarından seçilen bu iki roman aracılığı ile Batı edebiyat tarihinin en önemli olgularından olan kahramanlığın kültürel dönüşümü arketipsel eleştiri yönteminin verilerinden yararlanılarak ele alınacaktır. Çalışmada, Koku ve Çarpışma Partisi adlı romanlarda kahramanın yolculuğunun, kahraman ile ejderhanın yer değiştirmesiyle çarpıtıldığı, geleneksel kahraman ve yolculuğunun kasıtlı olarak postmodern bir biçimde dönüştürüldüğü görülmüştür. Çalışmada ele alınan eserlerin kahramanları, Apollonik eril Batı medeniyetinin ötekileştirdiği Oedipal ve Dionizyak kahramanın temsilcileri olarak yer almaktadır. Kahraman olgusunun edebi süreçteki dönüşümünü yansıtan Alman ve Amerikan edebiyatından iki post-heroik dönem eserinin karşılaştırmalı olarak ele vi alındığı bu çalışmanın, karşılaştırmalı edebiyat araştırmacılarına yeni bir bakış açısı kazandırması ve karşılaştırmalı edebiyat bilimine katkı sağlaması ümit edilmektedir

The hero, which is the most important aspect of the heroic age, has lost its importance in post-heroic age and has undergone a decadence in terms of body, personality and psychological traits. Along with the transformation of the hero, it can also be observed that the structure of literary works has disintegrated as well. Thus, one can witness that the hero has metamorphosed with all its aspects and lost its traditional significance. The aim of this study, which discusses the transformation of the notion of the hero in the literature of the post-heroic period, is to demonstrate via the literary and cultural indicators that how the classical hero has metamorphosed throughout the literary continuum in the novels of Patrick Suskind’s Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and Chuck Palahniuk’s Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey. Through these two works which have been selected from the German and American literature, the cultural transformation of the heroism, which is one of the most significant phenomena of the history of Western literature, will be discussed by the application of the archetypal criticism method. In the study, it has been understood that the concepts of the classical hero and the journey of the hero have deliberately been transformed by means of post-modernist theory. The heroes of the novels discussed in the study are the representatives of the Oedipal and the Dionysiac heroes which have been marginalized by the Apollonian Western civilization. It is hoped that this study which reflects the metamorphosis of the concept of the hero in the literary continuum and focuses on the representations of viii the post-heroic period in American and German literature will contribute to the field of Comparative Literature by encouraging new points of view in the studies which will discuss post-heroism and comparative studies
