Mimarlık
ve sinema ilişkisi üzerinden mekân algı, deneyim ve imge kavram lar ını
ele alan bu çalışma, sinemasal mekânlarda karşılaşılan mekânsal imgelerin mekân
deneyimin e etkile rini seçilen filmler üzerinden inceleyip, bu etkiler üzerinde tartışmayı
hedeflemektedir.
This
study discusses architectural space, perceptio n, experience and image concepts
through the relationship between architecture and cinema. It aims to examine the effects of
spatial images in cinematic spaces on spatial experience through selected films and further
discuss these effects.
In
the first part of the study, the relationship between architecture and cinema is
examined through literature research and examples. In the continuation of the study, the
perception of space, experience of space and spatial images are defined and the relations of
the se concepts with each other are discussed in the context of architectural space and
cinematic space.
In
the last part of the study, all films belonging to Akira Kurosawa are analysed based
on their use of open space, semi open space and indoor spaces in p ublic and private spaces;
The Idiot ( 1951), To Live ( 1952) and Rhapsody in August (Hachigatsu No
Kyoshikoku, 1991), were selected as case materials for their use of all these spaces. In the
case study the spatial experiences and the spatial images encountered in these films were
examined.
Within
the scope of th is study, the findings obtained from the analysis of the
cinematic spaces in the selected films, the realized space experiences and the use of spatial
images through the literature re search and examinations were used. It was concluded that
the spatial experiences realized with the spatial elements create common spatial images and
these spatial images affect the spatial experiences in different ways.
