Ekonomik büyüme, refah artışı sağlamak açısından tüm ülkelerin ortak
hedefidir.
Economic growth is the mutual aim of the all countries to increase the
prosperity. In that regard, international trade is increasing thanks to outward oriented
growth, outward policy, liberalization on capital movements and globalization. The
Industrial Revolution, technological developments and increase of population on the
earth resulted as increasing on production and consumption made the mass
production a current issue. Higher mass production was increased the uses of the
naturel resources. This situation turns out as environmental problems like climate
change, global warming and decreasing of bio-diversity on the earth surface. As vital
for the environment, mass deaths, economic crises, gaining the concept of
sustainability, international solutions are designed for the environment. Within this
scope, determine the relationship between the economic growth and environmental
pollution is became more important.
In this study, the validity of the extended version of Environmental Kuznets
Curve hypothesis will be tested by panel data method using annual data for the
period of 1995-2015 within the scope of 16 developed and developing countries.
According to the results of econometric analysis, both the environmental
policy stringency index and fossil fuel consumption have reducing effects on carbon
footprint per capita and CO2 emissions per capita. The validity of the EKC
hypothesis was confirmed by the PMG estimator for CO2 emmission. There is no
significant relationship between foreign direct investments and environmental
pollution indicators
