Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) üyesi 34 ülkenin sosyoekonomik
Clustering methods split up according to how data is assigned to clusters, in other
words, what kinds of groups they create. In classical clustering methods, each unit
certainly has to be assigned to one cluster. These methods generate the groups which
seperate the data set to completely non-empty and dual discrete subgroup. With
“Membership Function” described by the fuzzy set theory developed by Zadeh, definitely
belonging situation disappeared and Fuzzy Clustering Method which is an alternative to
classical clustering arose. The use of fuzzy clustering method provides information about
improper cluster memberships. Fuzzy clustering eliminates the necessity that each unit is
assigned to only one cluster, converts to a clustering method which each unit is a member
of all clusters with certain degrees of membership.
In this thesis study, the datas belonging to 30 variables which shows the socioeconomic
structures of 34 countries that are members of The Organization for Economic
Co-operation and Development(OECD) were used. Revealing that these countries in the
organization are similar to which of these, shows differentiation with which of these in
terms of development with macro-economic and socio-cultural indicators showing
economic performances of countries was aimed. For this purpose, fuzzy clustering analysis
was used. Fuzzy clustering analysis was performed by using both MATLAB and R
packaged softwares, the results were compared. Additionally, k-medoids clustering method
which is one of classical clustering methods was applied to the same data, compared with
the results of fuzzy clustering. As a result of the application, OECD countries were divided
into two seperate clusters including developed and least developed with fuzzy clustering
and K-medoids clustering. The clusters which the countries located in varied depending on
fuzzy clustering method and k-medoids clustering method.
