This study aims to make a bibliometric analysis of the data of 2.094
articles on quality in higher education indexed in Scopus with the science mapping
technique and to reveal the current state of the literature.
Method: In this study, bibliometric analysis was performed with science mapping
technique using Scopus tools and VOSviewer program.
Findings: Authors, studies, journals and countries with the highest Scopus
citation number in the findings of the study; co-authorship of authors and countries; By
using common citation maps, the most studied sub-themes related to quality in higher
education were reached from the analyzes of the authors, studies and journals with the
highest number of citations, and the co-occurrence of keywords (co-word).
Conclusion and Suggestions: As a result of the research, the authors and studies that
have the highest number of Scopus citations in quality studies in higher education have
been identified. While it was concluded that the most successful journal was "Quality
Assurance in Education" and the most successful countries were the UK, the USA and
Australia, Turkey was able to make it to this list from the 17th place. At the end of the
study, it was determined that the departments that made the most publications in the field
were from social sciences and educational sciences, and the mostly studied sub-topics
included scales to measure quality in higher education, Total Quality Management
(TQM) and students’ satisfaction as “a customer”. Again, in this analysis, attention was
drawn to the issue of "sustainability", which has gained popularity recently, and it was
suggested that future studies could progress in this area
