The equipment and machines in surface mining play important role for
production and all operations. Due to greater truck capacity, increased capital and
operating costs, it has become increasingly important to analyze haulage requirements.
In this thesis, all durations related to fixed and operational delays of mining
trucks operating in surface mines of Western Lignite Cooperation have been studied by
using time series analysis. In surface mines, two types of mining trucks have being
operated for lignite production and overburden removal. First type of mining trucks has
85 short ton capacity and there are 73 trucks. Second type of mining trucks has 170
short ton capacity and there are 10 trucks of this type. The fixed and operational delays
of all these trucks, become a large fleet including totally 83 mining trucks, have been
recorded as monthly-annually from the beginning of 2000 year.
In order to apply time series analyses, first, mining trucks have been classified
into three groups depending on material transport and their brands. Then, recorded
scheduled-unscheduled fixed delays, operational delays and empty stopping durations
have been monthly compiled for past nine years. Time series analyses have been
applied on the compiled data for three groups of mining trucks. The obtained prediction
models from the results of program outputs have been compared with real durations
occurred in 2009. In the results of time series analyses of 6 data sets for this study, it
has been found that the best suitable models are the seasonal [ARIMA(p,d,q)x(P,D,Q)s]
and non-seasonal [ARIMA(p,d,q)] models in terms of prediction.
