In this work, CdO films which belong to II-VI group binary compounds have
been produced by Ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) technique at the substrate
temperature of 300±5°C and the effect of F doping (at 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5 %) on the
physical properties of CdO semiconductor films has been investigated. Thicknesses and
some optical parameters such as refractive index and extinction coefficient have been
determined by spectroscopic ellipsometry. X-ray diffraction studies showed that all of
the films have polycrystalline structure and F doping at 1 % made the best improvement
in point of view of the structural properties. Optical properties have been investigated
and CdO:F films were found to have direct band structure with band gap values
between 2.40eV and 2.56eV. Three dimensional surface topography and phase images
of the films have been taken by atomic force microscope (AFM). Existence of a
granular structure on the surface has been noticed. Two probe method has been used to
determine the electrical conductivity and resistivity values of the films. It has been seen
that electrical conductivity values are high for F doping at 1 %. All of the results have
been appreciated in point of view of optoelectronic industry and photovoltaic solar cell
applications and it has been concluded that F doping has a noticeable affect on each
physical property.
