Opto-electronic technology, which is continuously developing recently is
searching for innovations, needs transparent conducting oxide materials. The copper
oxide films which are one of the p-type transparent conducting oxides were deposited at
250±5°C substrate temperature and different Zn doping amounts by ultrasonic spray
pyrolysis technique. Electrical, optical and structural properties of produced films were
investigated. The thicknesses of copper oxide films were found between 0.48-0.36 µm
and it was determined that the thicknesses of the films decreased with increasing Zn
doping amount. It was seen from XRD patterns that all films have polycrystalline
structure and the crystallinity levels of CuO:Zn (at 3 %) films are better than the other
films. The optical properties such as transmittance, reflection and absorption were
investigated and the energy gap of produced films were found between 1.923–2.641 eV
by using optical method. The electrical conduction mechanisms were determined with IV measurements obtained at room temperature and it was determined that some films
have ohmic and the other films have shallow and deep trap structures. The electrical
conductivities were also calculated by two-probe technique at dark and light conditions.
