gelistirilmistir.
Worldwide, in the present time, we observe that both the commercial and
military aircrafts exceed their intended design lives. Due to economical issues and
competitions, the companies delay to renew their fleets and search for proper ways to
decrease their fleet costs.
This study briefly tells about the fundamentals of aviation materials, aircraft
structures and main structural materials. The study also contains the fatigue and
corrosion problems encountered on the high strength materials used on the aircrafts
Apparently, to enhance the fatigue and corrosion properties of high strength
material 7075 that has been exposed to aging effects, along with the RRA
(Retrogression and re-aging), which has been developed lately, heat treatment and
mechanical surface treatment has been combined and a new termomechanic has been
developed. The results of both approaches have been examined thru experiments. The
measurements made on the samples have verified that the termomechanic process
positively effected the fatigue life of the material. However, the corrosion resistance
has been mostly reduced while enhancing the fatigue life. The RRA process has
effected the two properties to a limited extend but in the same way and in the desired
direction.
In the future, the optimization of the parameters of the termomechanic process
will enable the further studies to be carried on to enhance the corrosion life of the
material and it will be an alternative for the aircraft parts that get older by time of
operation.
