Araştırma evrenini, Eskişehir ilinde çalışan 44’ü İlk ve Acil Yardım Teknikeri ve
108’i Acil Tıp Teknisyeni olmak üzere toplam 152 kişi oluşturmaktadır. Evrenin tümü
araştırma kapsamına alınarak 112 kişiye ulaşılmış, cevaplılık oranı %74 olarak
gerçekleşmiştir.
Veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılan Anket Formu; Soru Formu, İş Stresi Ölçeği,
Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği ve Minnesota İş Doyumu Ölçeği’nden oluşmaktadır.
Mesleki Tutum ve Davranış Ölçeği, “Zaman ve İşbirliği”, “Haklara Saygı”, “Meslek

Paramedics and emergency medical technicians, whose main duty is protecting
and rescuing lives as well as preventing injuries, hold an important position in
ambulance services. The purpose of our study is to evaluate stress, burnout and job
satisfaction levels of paramedics and emergency medical technicians in terms of ethics.
In this respect, this study attempts to identify the participants’ professional attitudes and
behaviors as well as levels of stress, burnout and job satisfaction, and to examine the
relationship among these factors.
The population of the study comprises a total of 152 people, i.e. 44 paramedics
and 108 emergency medical technicians, employed in Eskişehir. The whole population
was included in the study, and we reached 112 technicians, which produced a response
rate of 74%.
The Survey Form used for data collection consisted of Questions Form, Work
Stress Inventory, Maslach Burnout Inventory and Minnesota Job Satisfaction
Questionnaire. The Professional Attitude and Behavior Inventory was evaluated in four
aspects, i.e. “Time and Cooperation”, “Respect to Rights”, “Importance of Work
Ethics” and “Compliance with Authorities and Responsibilities”.
In our study, 71 participants (63,4%) were female and 41 (36,6%) were male; and
average age of the participants was 26,64±2,54. Eighty-nine participants (79,5%)
reported to have chosen the profession on their own will. Ninety-nine (88,4%) were
satisfied with their profession, 90 (80,4%) found themselves competent in the
profession, and 109 participants (97,3%) believed that life safety was under threat when
performing their profession.
The participants had low level of work stress and burnout, and medium level of
job satisfaction. “Time” is the most significant determining factor in professional
attitudes and behaviors and work stress. Exhaustion resulting from overworking is the
most significant factor causing burnout. “Beneficence”, one of the most important ethical principles, is the professional factor that provides most job satisfaction among
the participants.
The study also showed that the participants attach importance to teamwork,
cooperation with patients and patient rights, and are sensitive to human honor and
patient privacy.
