In this study, composite materials were prepared by solution blending method using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as matrix and different proportions of (5, 10 and 20 wt %) boron clay which is an industrial waste of Etibor Inc. Kırka Borax plants includes 22 wt % boron, as filler. Besides these, another composite material was prepared by combining 10 wt % of a final product of this factory in PVC matrix, called Etibor-48 (borax pentahydrate). The most important factor in determining the purpose of this study is to research the evaluation of the usage of boron in boron waste directly in a new material without any recovering process. For this purpose, some proporties of prepared materials were investigated, and the effect of the weight proportion of filler on surface energy values of materials was determined. Firstly, the dispersive component of the surface energies of prepared composites and composite components were determined by IGC at the infinite dilution region. The dispersive component of the surface energy values were increased with the increasing filler ratio in composites. the dispersive component of the surface energy values are known as providing an information of the similarity relation of material surfaces. The fillers have been used in this study without
any chemical treatment; have closer the dispersive component of the surface energy
values to the matrix than commonly used fillers. The thermal behaviors of materials were examined for determining the experimental conditions of IGC. It was determined that the thermal stabilities of composites were higher than the matrix and increased with increasing filler content. The spectrums of composites and composite components were recorded by DRIFTS for examining the structural changes. Surface structure images of composites determined by SEM, and X-ray diffraction pattern were analyzed by XRD. In addition; to get a foresight for the mechanical properties of composites,
the tensile strength tests were performed.
