The semiconductor thin film production techniques such as spray pyrolysis (SP),
magnetron sputtering (MS), metalorganic chemical vapour depositon (MOCVD),
vacuum evaporation (VE) and molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and their principles,
processes and the effect on the physical properties of produced thin films are examined
in this research.
The physical properties of semiconductor thin films such as crystal structure, the
thickness of the thin film and electrical and optical properties, have a significant role on
the development of the electronic and opto-electronic devices and their usage. The
tables showing the crystal structures, semiconductor types, mobilities, electrical
resistivity, and band gaps of the II-VI compounds which are produced by five different
techniques are provided in this research. The relationships between optical and
electrical properties of thin films and techniques for productions have been studied.
The electrical and optical properties of different techniques such as CdS
semiconductor thin films which were produced by Spray Pyrolysis (SP), Magnetron
Sputtering (MS), Metalorganic Chemical Vapour Depositon (MOCVD), Vacuum
Evaporation (VE) and Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) have been compared and
interpreted. It has been determined that the electrical and optical properties of
semiconductor thin films highly depend on the production methods of thin films.
