Konak-konuk bilesikleri, konak ve konuktan olusan iki bilesenli moleküler
sistemlerdir. Bu sistemler iki ilginç özellik gösterirler. Bunlardan birincisi: Konak
bilesik konuk moleküllerin yerlesebilecegi açık bir yapıya sahip olmalıdır. Boyut
uyumu gerekliliginden dolayı konuklar boyut seçiciligi gösterirler ve bundan dolayı
moleküler elek olarak davranma yetenegine sahiptirler. Diger ilginç özellik ise iki
bilesen arasındaki etkilesmenin hidrojen bagı, iyon-dipol, dipol-dipol ve Van der
Waals kuvvetleri gibi kovelent olmayan kuvvetlerden ibaret olmasıdır. Konuk
saglar.
Spektroskopik yöntemler zeolitlerin ve onların iç yüzeyinde adsorblanan
moleküllerin belirlenmesinde önemli katkılarda bulunmustur. Bu çalısmada konakkonuk
etkilesmeleri vurgulanarak zeolitlerin spektroskopik yöntemlerle incelenmesi
arastırılmıstır.
Host-guest compounds are two component molecular systems consisting of
host and guest. These systems possess two interesting properties. First, host compound
should have an open structure to accommodate guest molecules. Since dimensional
conformity is needed, guests show dimensional selectivity and therefore they have the
molecular sieving property. Second, the interaction between the two components
consists of non-covalent forces such as hydrogen bond, ion-dipole, dipole-dipole and
Van der Waals forces. It is considered that guest molecules are simply confined to the
host structure without any bonding between the two components.
Fusion of molecular building blocks leads to larger molecular materials; for
example, the aluminosilicate unit can be arranged in various ways in order to form
host structure with differently structured inner surfaces.
Zeolites are defined as diluted aluminosilicates of alkaline and alkaline earth
metals.
It has been observed that there is a good deal of conformity between zeolite
and organic guest molecule structures. However, it is admitted that the inner phases of
zeolites are different from those of guest molecule containing compounds. The zeolite
host is an inorganic compound. Zeolites are exclusively solids, while organic host
compounds can exist in the solid, solution or gaseous phases. One organic host
provides one discrete interior cavity, while the polymeric zeolites might be regarded as
an infinite sequence of voids similar to cavitands.
Spectroscopy has contributed significantly to the characterization of zeolites
and the molecules adsorbed on their internal surface. In this study spectroscopic
studies of zeolites, with particular emphasis on host-guest interactions, will be
reviewed.
