Türkiye, bulundugu cografik konum ve sahip oldugu agro- ekolojik kosullar
nedeniyle dünyanın en fazla ekmeklik bugday yetistiren ülkelerinden birisidir. Ancak birim
alandan elde edilen ürün bakımından istenilen düzeyde degildir. Ülkemizde bugday her
Turkey is one of the most widely bread wheat grown countries in the world because
of the agroclimatic conditions that it has and geographic location that it is on. But it is not
on the desirable level according to product that has been produced from unit area. Wheat is
grown in every region in our country but the areas that wheat is grown mostly are the areas
where semi-dry conditions reign. For this reason the most wheat producing area in Turkey
is Central Anatolian.
This research has been conducted for the purpose of identifying the adaptation of
78 winter bread wheat genotypes, whose origin is Middle Asia, to the Central Anatolian
west transitional zone and their performances for agronomic characters in these conditions.
All the 78 wheat genotypes used in the research are pure line. The lines that show
differences in spike and awn colours and spike structure also have differences in their
kernel colours and structure.
The genotypes used in this study have been sown in Eskisehir Osmangazi
University Agriculture Faculty’s research area in two replications. Planting plots have been
taken as two lines and three meters. After every 10 genotypes, Gerek 79 that is known to
be the mostly planted in the area, winter bread wheat has been planted two lines, each is
three metres, as control.
The characters that have been studied in the research are number of fertile tillers,
plant length, login, spike length, awn length, spikelet number in spike, number of kernel in
spike, spike yield, shattering and thousand kernel weight. Observations and measurements
have applied on every 15 plants chosen random from each row.
According to the results, some of these lines are found to have the potential to be
produced directly after having been identified to have the other characters that are wanted
for Central Anatolia and after testing in yield trials. They were determined as to have
considerable capacity especially on yield components that have inputs to grain yield.
