In this thesis, the velocity potentials, the base of the wing lift which is the most
driving factor of plane has been studied.
The velocity potentials around the airfoil have been investigated by using a
numerical method called Vortex Panel Method NACA 23012. The numerical results of
this study were compared with the results that were computed by Fluent 6.2 , a CFD
(Computational Fluid Mechanic) software.
In order to eliminate the errors of the Vortex Panel numerical method,
a software program is coded by Fortran Power Station and this calculation is done with
the help of this software program.
The difference between CFD (Computational Fluid Mechanics) and numerical
method solution is in the negligible range.
So this comparison tells that although Vortex Panel method is an old method it
still gives us accurate results.
