Her iki modelde
At the very first design process, the hot section parts of a turbine are the most
challenging parts due to complex loads such as multi axial stress state and thermal loads.
These parts are the most fracture critical parts as well. As the flow temperatures in
turbines rise up to 10000Cs, it is impossible to experimentally measure the temperature
and stress distribution in the turbines. Hence, simulations methods play the main role to
calculate the temperature and stress distributions on hot section parts. The most popular
method among these numerical simulations, in recent years, is the finite element method
(F.E.M.) and the most common F.E.M. software is ANSYS.
The main subject of this thesis is to accomplish the thermal and structural analysis
of a nozzle guide vane (NGV) by calculating the deformation and stress values for a
given heat transfer coefficient (HTC) and pressure distribution, using ANSYS. For this
purpose, two models have been generated. To get realistic calculation results,
experimentally measured HTC and pressure distributions have been used as an input for
the thermal and structural analysis. The subject experiment was done at Von Karman
Instutue in 1990. In the second model, higher temperature and the pressure distributions
have been used to simulate an aero-engine turbine operating conditions. The calculated
temperature and pressure distributions have been received from a R&D department of an
engine production facility. In both models, temperature and stress distributions have been
calculated and compared on the same airfoil profile.
