Bu araştırmanın amacı akıcı okuma becerilerini desteklemek amacıyla
hazırlanmış olan Okumayı Geliştirme Programının (OGEP) özel öğrenme güçlüğü olan
3 ve 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin okuma becerileri üzerindeki etkilerini değerlendirmektir.
Yöntem: OGEP’in özel öğrenme güçlüğü olan öğrencilerin akıcı okuma
performansları üzerindeki etkisini belirlemek amacı ile tek denekli araştırma
yöntemlerinden değişen ölçütler modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada 9-10 yaş aralığında
beş özel öğrenme güçlüğü tanılı öğrenci katılmıştır. Araştırmada Okuma Motivasyon
Ölçeği ve Okuma Tutum Ölçeği’nden yararlanılarak öğrencilerin araştırma öncesi ve
sonrası motivasyonları değerlendirilmiştir. Sosyal geçerlilik kapsamında sosyal
karşılaştırma ve öznel değerlendirmeden yararlanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular OGEP uygulamasının özel
öğrenme güçlüğü olan öğrencilerin akıcı okuma becerilerine olumlu yönde etkisi
olduğunu göstermiştir. Bununla birlikte çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin aileleri ve sınıf
öğretmenleri OGEP’in öğrencilerin akıcı okuma performanslarını geliştirmede etkili
Sonuç ve Öneriler: Araştırmanın sonucunda OGEP’in özel öğrenme güçlüğü
olan öğrencilerin akıcı okuma performanslarını geliştirmede etkili olduğu ve
katılımcıların uygulama tamamlandıktan bir hafta, iki hafta ve bir ay sonra bu
2
becerilerini koruyabildikleri ortaya konmuştur. Özel öğrenme güçlüğü olan öğrencilerin
akıcı okumalarına yönelik OGEP’ten yararlanılması önerilmiştir
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Reading
Development Program (OGEP) prepared to support reading fluency skills on reading
skills and motivation of the 3rd and 4th grade students with specific learning disabilities.
Method: In order to determine the effectiveness of the OGEP in reading fluency
performance of students with specific learning disabilities, changing criteria model from
single-subject research methods was used. In the study, five students with specific
learning disabilities aged 9-10 participated. In the research, the motivation of the
students before and after the research was evaluated by using the Reading Motivation
Scale and Reading Attitude Scale. Within the scope of social validity, social comparison
and subjective evaluation were used.
Results: The findings of the study showed that the OGEP improved reading
fluency skills of students with specific learning disabilities. Furthermore, the families
and classroom teachers of the students who participated in the study stated that the
OGEP was effective in enhancing reading fluency performance of the students and their
reading motivation increased. The students stated that they found the program
enjoyable. In addition, according to the social validity data obtained through social
comparison, results indicated that the participating students had lower levels of reading
fluency performance compared to their typically developing peers.
Conclusion and Suggestions: The results of this study manifested that the
OGEP was effective on improving reading fluency performance of students with
specific learning disabilities and the participating students could maintain their skills
one week, two weeks and one month after the implementation of the OGEP was
4
completed. Findings suggest that experts should benefit from the OGEP to improve
reading fluency skills of students with specific learning disabilities
