feminist ve queer film eleştirileri yazan B. Ruby Rich’in analitik tespitleri çalışmanın

filmi Far FromHeaven incelenmiştir. Yapılan okumada, queer teorinin kapsadığı;
sinemanın etiketsiz kimlik temsillerine önemli bir örnek sunmuş, Far From Heaven
In the study, “Atmosphere Creation in Queer Cinema,” the process of creating
the atmosphere of ‘Queer Cinema Theory and Queer Studies’ has been examined by
using aspects of the framework of fundamental cinematographic construction. In
addition, concepts such as queer cinema theory and queer studies have also been read
through the queer essentials and their relations with each other. Secondly, Queer
cinema has been examined through the lens of sexual identity and the construction of
policies related to this identity in the cinema. This perspective requires an
observation, so the working process is related to many layers in different ways
varying from content to content.
It would not be wrong to say that Queer cinema has made a big leap with the
more widely known Queer Theory of the 1990s. According to the focus of this study,
the interaction between Queer Theory, cinema and plastic arts have been analysed
especially on the basis of the New Queer Cinema movement. The analytical findings
of academic, feminist, and queer film critic B. Ruby Rich, who gave his name to the
new Queer Cinema movement, are another important source and basis of the study.
On the other hand, it would be restrictive to assume that the study was based on a
research process solely concerned with New Queer Cinema because the term

“Queer” has not yet appeared or been associated in many art fields. However, cinema
is the branch of art that has best expressed the cultural and emotional meanings of
Queer, presented bold representations of Queer, and hosted both unilateral and
malicious depictions of Queer, along with the most original, multi-dimensional
representations of it.
In light of this ability of cinema, the film, “Far from Heaven” directed by
Todd Haynes, a filmmaker who distinguished himself with his own film language in
New Queer Cinema after AIDS, has been examined in this thesis.
In the unique atmosphere created by a cult Queer film like Far from Heaven,
it’s demonstrated that a complex language structure and multiple identity
representations are possible besides the stereotypes and prejudices often found in
cinematic representation of Queer culture.
Todd Haynes has presented an important example of the unlabeled identity
representations of Queer cinema by combining the melodramatic style of the 1950s
with strong images and patterns, thus causing significant breaks in the marginalized
exaggerated and degraded identity codes of Queer cinema. The film, by using the
power of plastic arts effectively, created competent queer cinema in the light of
conscious aesthetic concerns
