Teknolojik olanaklar ışığında post-fotoğraf ve gerçeklik sorunu

Abstract

Fotoğraf medyumu, icadının ilk zamanlarından itibaren gerçeklikle özdeş bir kavramsallaştırmaya sahip olmuştur. Fotoğrafın sanat alanına dahil edilmesi, görsel nesnenin toplumsal etkisinin fark edilmesi ve teknolojinin paralelinde gelişip dönüşmesi, gerçeklik anlamını yıkmaya başlamıştır. Fotoğraf, artık doğanın birebir kopyası olmaktan çok, duygu, düşünce, politika ve ideoloji ışığında manipülasyona uğrayan bir araç halini almıştır. Her yeni teknik gelişme, fotoğrafı manipülasyon kolaylığına bir adım daha yakınlaştırmıştır. Bu bağlamda dijital fotoğraf, istendik yönde müdahaleyi en etkin kılan süreci başlatmıştır. Dijital fotoğraf ve sonrasında oluşan post-fotoğraf süreci, bilgisayar ortamındaki yazılımsal kodlar ile açıklanmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, araştırmanın ana hatlarını oluşturan post-fotoğraf ve sayısal kod değerlerinin görselliğe dönüştüğü, GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) gibi yapay zekâ alanları incelenmiştir. Konuya ilişkin alanyazın, belge ve görsel öğeler araştırmada kullanılarak, fotoğrafın dönüşen anlamı belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Post-fotoğraf sürecine ilişkin tartışmalar ve görsel öğeler incelenerek, Türkçe bir kaynak oluşturmak amacıyla, yapay fotoğraf üretiminde gerçeklik sorunsalı irdelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda, araştırma, günümüz fotoğrafının, teknolojik olanaklar ışığında evirilen formunu, ortaya koymak adına önem taşımaktadır. Toplumun, gerçeklikle bağlantısı olmayan fotoğraflara ulaşım ve üretim kolaylığına dikkat çekmek adına, StyleGan Encoder adlı GAN programı ile fotoğraf üretimi sağlanıp araştırma dahil edilmiştir

The photography medium, has possessed a conceptualisation that is identical to reality starting from the beginning of its invention. The embracement of photography as an art form, realization of the social impact of visual subjects and the development of the technology in parallel started to shatter the sense of reality. Rather than being an exact copy of the nature, photography became a tool which has been manipulated in the light of emotions, thoughts, politics and ideologies. Each technical development brought photography closer to the convenience of manipulation. In this regard, digital photography started an era that made the desired manipulation much more convenient. Digital photography and the post-photography period that followed is explained by the software codes in computers. In this direction, artificial intelligence fields such as GAN are examined where post-photography and numerical code values are visualised constituting the main lines of the research. The meaning of photography is tried to be determined by benefiting from the literature, documents and visual elements related to the subject. To be able to create a Turkish source in the field, the discussions and visual elements related to the post-photography process are evaluated by addressing the problem of reality in the production of artificial photography. In this context, research is important for revealing the evolving form of today's photography in the light of technological possibilities. In order to draw attention to the society's ease of access and production of photographs that have no attachment to the reality, photography was produced with the GAN program called StyleGan Encoder and included in the research
