Bu çalışmada yeni medyanın sayısal video kullanımındaki etkileri, teknik, içerik
ve benliğin sunumu bağlamında ‘youtuber’lar üzerinden incelenmiştir. Yeni medyanın
iletişim biçimlerini değiştirmesiyle birlikte kültürel, toplumsal ve teknolojik yeni
ortamlar geliştirilmiştir. Bu ortamların başında youtube gelmektedir. ‘Youtube’ bir
video paylaşım platformu olarak, üretilen videoyu tüm küresel ağda paylaşıma
sokabilmektedir. Videonun sayısallaşmasının ‘Youtube’a olumlu ve olumsuz etkilerinin
In this study, the effects of new media on the use of digital media are examined
via YouTubers in the context of technique, content, and presentation of the self. New
cultural, social, and technological environments have been developed as a result of the
shifting attitudes towards communication methods and ways by the effect of new media.
On Youtube which is one of the most popular online platforms, digital video produced
by a user can easily spread in seconds across the global network. The study also
discusses both the positive and negative effects of video digitization on ‘YouTube’, the
production formats, and categories of digital video. YouTubers’ ability to upload, view,
share, interpret, broadcast, videos, create playlists and their own channels, and also
subscribe to other broadcast channels, make them virtual phenomena.
In this research, video creators and their (first and last) videos that had been
determined depending on the intended sample and the number of viewers and
subscribers, were examined following Goffman's ‘frame analysis’ method within the
framework of technicality, content and presentation of the virtual self. The
transformation of the video creators in ‘Youtube’ has been observed according to their
production and consumption cycle. The differences between videos produced as self showcases were also determined
