Yimenicioğlu, S. Assessment of Epilepsy and The Other Clinical Disorders with Gross Motor Function Classification System and Bimanual Fine Motor Function Score at The Patients with Central Nervous System Developmental Malformations. Eskisehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Subspeciality Thesis in Department of Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology, Eskisehir, 2013. Various neurologic disorders may be seen at the patients with central nervous system malformations. Aim of this study is to determine epilepsy and the other disorders at the patients with central nervous system malformations and to assess motor prognosis by using Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and Bimanual Fine Motor Function Score (BFMFS). These scores are evaluated in five level, level 1 shows mild motor impairement where as level 5 shows severe motor impairement. In our study clinical, neuroradiological features of 76 patients who were diagnosed by cerebral malformations between December 2011–May 2012 at ESOGU Faculty of Medicine, pediatric neurology department were evaluated with GMFCS and BFMFS. The most common associated disorders are mental retardation, epilepsy, langauge and speech disorders, malnutrition, Cerebral Palsy. Epilepsy is seen at half of the patients and ıt is most commonly seen at cerebral cortex malformations (p<0.05). Gross Motor Function Classification System level 5 is most commonly associated with cerebral cortex malformations. Most of the patients with cerebral palsy have GMFCS level 5. Oromotor dysfunction is most commonly seen with cerebral cortex malformations. Patients’ developmental state and oromotor function got worse with increase at GMFCS level. Epileptic patients had higher GMFCS and BFMF levels than others. As a conlusion central nervous system malformastions are frequently associated with epilepsy and mental retardation, severe neurlogic findings are detected. It ıs concluded that GMFCS and BFMFS are beneficial to determine motor prognosis at these patients.
