Bu çalışmada, Maniheist Uygurca metinlerin söz varlığının tematik bir tasnifle ortaya
konması amaçlanmıştır. Kullanım sıklıkları verilen sözcükler, Maniheist metinlerde yer alan
cümlelerden hareketle anlamlandırılmıştır. Tanıklanan sözcüklerin Köktürkçe, Budist Uygurca
ve İlk İslami Türkçe metinlerdeki varlığı sorgulanmış ve o sözcüklerin ne gibi farklı anlamlara
geldikleri, Maniheist metinlerdeki anlamları karşılaştırılarak belirtilmiştir. Bunun sonucunda;
In this study, it is aimed to reveal the vocabulary of Manichaean Uighur texts with a
thematic classification. Words were made meaningful from sentences in Manichaean texts and
the frequency of usage of these words are given. The existence of the words witnessed in
historical Turkic languages has been questioned and the different meanings of those words have
been determined by comparing their meanings in the Manichaean texts. As a result, it has been
observed that some words could not be witnessed in historical Turkic language texts. In
addition, it has been determined that some words witnessed in historical Turkic languages in
their basic meanings are terms belonging to a discipline and religious terminology or
metaphorical usage in Manichaean texts.
The Manichaean Uighur texts, which are the oldest texts of Old Uyghur, are
considerably shorter than the Buddhist Uighur texts. Also, some fragments were not fully read
due to torn and worn fragments. Manichaean Uighur texts, although short and incomplete, are
rich texts in which basic words are witnessed and in terms of vocabulary. Some of the elements
that show the richness of the vocabulary of these texts are the polyphony of the words witnessed,
their metaphorical use and the frequent use of analogies in the texts. In the texts, many abstract
concepts and examples in which these concepts were concretized were also identified and these
were specified in the items. In addition to abstract concepts, clues about how Manichaean
Uighurs spent their daily lives were identified from the texts
