Toplumsal taşıma kapasitesinin, turizmin gelişmesine yönelik destek üzerindeki etkisinde, toplumsal kalıtımın ve yaşam kalitesinin rolü

Abstract

Günümüzde birçok turistik destinasyonda yerel halk, turizmin olumsuz etkilerinden dolayı turizmin gelişimine yönelik desteğini azaltmaktadır. Bu durumun sebeplerini ortaya koymak amacıyla araştırmacılar, çeşitli amprik sonuçlara ulaşmışlardır. Buna rağmen toplumsal taşıma kapasitesi, turizmin gelişimine yönelik desteğin bir öncülü olarak değerlendirilmemiştir. Bu kapsamda araştırmanın temel amacı toplumsal taşıma kapasitesinin aşılmasının, turizmin gelişimine yönelik desteği nasıl azalttığını ortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca yaşam kalitesi ve toplumsal katılımın söz konusu etkideki aracılık rollerinin belirlenmesi de araştırmanın amaçları arasındadır. Bu yapısal ilişkinin temelini sosyal değişim teorisi (SDT) oluşturmaktadır. İlgili değişkenler arasındaki ilişki yapısal eşitlik modellemesiyle (YEM) test edilmiştir. Araştırma evrenini Kapadokya bölgesinde bulunan ve en çok ziyaret edilen Ürgüp, Göreme, Avanos, Uçhisar ve Derinkuyu bölgelerinde yaşayan yerel halkın tümü oluşturmaktadır. Veri olasılığa dayalı örnekleme tekniklerinden tabakalı örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak yerel halktan (N: 423) elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, bölge halkının algılamış olduğu toplumsal taşıma kapasitesinin aşılması, turizmin gelişimine yönelik desteği azaltmaktadır. Ek olarak yaşam kalitesi ve toplumsal katılım, toplumsal taşıma kapasitesinin turizmin vii gelişimine yönelik etkisine aracılık etmektedir. Sonuç olarak bu araştırma toplumsal taşıma kapasitesinin aşılmasının turizmin gelişimine yönelik desteği negatif yönde etkilemesini SDT kapsamında ortaya koyarak alanyazına özgün bir katkı sağlamaktadır

Today, in many touristic destinations, local people are reducing their support for the development of tourism due to the negative effects of tourism in their region. To determine the causes of this, researchers have conducted various empirical studies and drawn conclusions based on their findings. However, social carrying capacity has not been consider as an antecedent to support for the development of tourism. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to demonstrate how exceeding the social carrying capacity reduces the support for the development of tourism in that region. This study also aims to determine the mediating roles of quality of life and community participation in this effect. The basis of this structural relationship is social exchange theory (SET). The relationship between the relevant variables was tested with the use of structural equality model (SEM). The research universe is composed of all the local people living in Ürgüp, Goreme, Avanos, Uçhisar and Derinkuyu regions, which are the most visited regions of Cappadocia region. The data of the study was obtained from the local people (N: 423) using stratified sampling, which is one of the probability-based sampling techniques. According to the findings of the research, exceeding the perceived social carrying capacity of the people living in one region reduces their support for the development of tourism in that region. In addition, quality of life and community participation mediate the impact of social carrying capacity on the development of ix tourism. As a result this research makes a unique contribution to the field by revealing the negative impact of exceeding the social carrying capacity on the support for the development of tourism within the scope of SET
