Bu çalışmada bölgesel bir işbirliği örgütü olarak Güneydoğu Asya Ülkeleri Birliği (ASEAN) örgütünün kolektif kimlik inşa etme kapasitesi incelenmiştir. Bu açıdan öncelikle kolektif kimlik kavramının sosyal bilimlerde ve uluslararası ilişkiler alanında yeri açıklanarak ASEAN örgütünün kolektif kimlik oluşturma kapasitesi örgütün kuruluş öncesi, sonrası ve bugünkü yapısı ele alınarak tartışılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra Soğuk Savaş sonrası bağımsızlık elde eden ASEAN üyesi devletlerin ulus kimliği ile ulus üstü kimlik arasında uyum oluşturma çabası, üyelerin ve örgütün karşılıklı etkileşimi çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Birliğin yapısı sosyal inşacı bakış açısıyla ele alınarak metin analizi metoduyla kurumsal yapısındaki dönüşüm ve kolektif kimlik oluşturmak için atılan adımlar tartışılmıştır. Sonuç bölümünde ise örgütün son on yıllık faaliyetleri kolektif kimlik kavramı çerçevesinde değerlendirilip nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden faydalanılarak örgüt kimliğinin tanımlanması hedeflenmiştir. In this study, the collective identity building capacity of the Association of Southeast
Asian Nations (ASEAN), as a regional cooperation organization, has been examined.
In this respect, the place of the concept of collective identity in social sciences and
international relations has been explained. The ASEAN organization‟s capacity to
establish a collective identity has been discussed by addressing the organizatiıon‟s
pre-establishment, post-establishment, and current structure. Also, the member states'
efforts that gained independence after WWII to create harmony between the national
and supranational identity have been examined within the framework of the mutual
interaction of members and the organization. The union structure has been discussed
from the social constructivist perspective, and the steps taken to establish a collective
identity and the transformation in its institutional structure has been focused through
the text analysis method. In the conclusion part, it aims to evaluate the organization's
activities for the last ten years within the framework of the concept of collective
identity and to define the organizational identity by using qualitative research
methods
