Modern kablosuz iletişim sistemleri yüksek veri iletim oranlarına ihtiyaç olan yerlerde
tek taşıyıcı yerine çok sayıda taşıyıcı kullanarak veriyi paralel taşır. Dikgen Frekans
Modern wireless communication systems carry information over multiple carriers
instead of single carrier especially when high data rates are required. Orthogonal Frequency
Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is the most used and advantageous multicarrier system.
In OFDM systems, the multi-bit symbols are split into sub-symbols and the complex
numbers that represent the phase and amplitude of the carriers that carry each sub-symbol are
combined using Inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) to create the time signal that is
composed of all. However, for some symbol values, the composition of their carriers in time
domain can assume quite high values at some instants in time. This phenomenon which is not
seen in single-carrier systems, is named as Peak/Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in OFDM
systems and can be measured as such. PAPR poses design problems and inherently introduces
cost in analog amplifiers in antenna circuitry, because high peak signal values may be outside
of the normal operation conditions and may be inside the nonlinear portion of the
characteristics of these circuits. Consequently, it will cause distortions in the transmitted signal
and unwanted effects in the spectrum. In addition, such distortions will eventually cause false
detections on the receiver side. Therefore, it is desired for PAPR of the OFDM signal to be
transmitted to be as low as possible, and is reduced if possible.
The technique we proposed in this paper for PAPR reduction, on the other hand, does
not have negative sides while not imposing significant computational load. The principle of
the technique is to alter phases and amplitudes of individual sub-carriers in the direction that
reduces PAPR but in the levels that would not cause additional detection problems at the
receiver. In addition, the alterations are carried out such that the average power stays
approximately the same.
The technique has advantages of not requiring transmission additional bits, not causing
considerable BER deterioration and being practical to apply. We obtained promising
simulation results
