intraosseöz, nazal septum deviasyonu %23.1, nazal septum spuru %6.3, nazal septum
pnömatizasyonu %6.3, paradoksal orta konka %3.6, orta konka hipertrofisi %14.9, orta
konka bülloza %39.6, bifid alt konka %0.45, paradoksal alt konka %0.9, alt konka
hipertrofisi %60.1, alt konka bülloza %1.8, infraorbital etmoid hücresi %40.3 olarak
tespit edildi. Anterior nazal spina grup 1; %33.5, grup 2; %35.7, grup 3; %13.6, grup 4;
%17.2 olarak izlendi. Nazopalatin kanal grup 1; %37.1, grup 2; %28.5, grup 3; %2.7,
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the anatomical variations of the
superior teeth and related important anatomical cavities, the maxillary sinus and nasal
fossa, with cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Material and Method: In our study, the variations of the maxillary sinus, lateral
nasal wall, nasal fossa floor and related dento-alveolar region anatomical variations were
evaluated using cone beam computed tomography images of 221 patients.
Results: In our study, the incidence of anatomical variations; maxillary sinus
asymmetry 9.5%, maxillary sinus septa 32.6%, PSAA 50.9% and mostly intraosseous,
nasal septum deviation 23.1%, nasal septum spur 6.3%, nasal septum pneumatization
6.3%, paradoxical middle concha 3.6%, middle concha hypertrophy 14.9%, middle
concha bullosa 39.6%, bifid inferior concha 0.45%, paradoxical inferior concha 0.9%,
inferior concha hypertrophy 60.1%, inferior concha bullosa 1.8%, infraorbital ethmoid
cell 40.3% was detected. Anterior nasal spina group 1; 33.5%, group 2; 35.7%, group 3;
13.6%, group 4; 17.2% was found. Nasopalatine canal group 1; 37.1%, group 2; 28.5%,
group 3; 2.7%, group 4; 8.1%, group 5; 15.8%, group 6; 7.7% was observed. Canalis
sinuosus was observed in 20.4% of cases in the right maxilla and 47% in the left maxilla.
Infraorbital canal type 1; 21.2%, type 2; 70%, type 3; 8.8% was found.
Conclusion: CBCT is advantageous compared to CT due to its ease of application,
low radiation dose and high resolution in the study of dentomaxillofacial area. It is
thought that the possible variations should be carefully evaluated in the presence of the
pain caused by the multidisciplinary study area, nasomaxillary complex and related dental
structures, with unknown causes and in the planning of surgical procedures
