ihracatı içindeki payında görülecek 1 yüzde puanlık artış, Hindistan ve Çin’in
edilebilir
Economic growth is very important for countries to increase their welfare
levels. Economic growth is followed periodically, especially to achieve a certain
momentum for developing countries, to converge to developing countries, and to
provide certain living standards to its citizens. Export, which is among the factors that
contribute to economic growth, is often described as the engine of growth. The
importance of the share of high technology-based products in exports is frequently
emphasized in the literature. In this context, the effects of exports of high-medium high
technology products on economic growth were examined for particularly BRICS,
including emerging developing countries, and Turkey by the ARDL bounds test.
Within the scope of the study, firstly, the relationship between export and
economic growth has been explained. Analyzes were carried out using the data
obtained for the 2010Q1 and 2019Q3. In the econometric analysis, the economic
growth was used as a dependent variable, as the share of total exports and exports of
high and medium technology-based products in total exports were used as independent
variables.
As a result of the analyzes, it was observed that there is a co-integration
relationship in BRICS-T countries except for Brazil. The 1% increase in exports in
these countries increases GDP in the long term, in the range of 0,20% to 0,35%. The
countries where the share of high-tech products exports in total exports has a positive
and significant effect on economic growth are China and India. The increase of 1
percentage point in the share of high-tech products exports in total exports increases
the GDP of India and China by 4%. At this point, it was determined that China and
India differed positively from other countries in the relevant period. In general, it can
be stated that results that support the export-based growth hypothesis for BRICS-T
countries
