cam karbomer grubunda tespit edilirken bunu sırasıyla geleneksel cam iyonomer, rezin
Aim: In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the fluoride release capacity of glass
carbomer and ACTIVA bioactive restorative material with conventional and resin
modified glass ionomer.
Material and Method: In our study, conventionel glass ionomer cement (Fuji
IX), resin modified glass ionomer cement (Fuji II LC), glass carbomer (GCP Glass Fill)
and ACTIVA bioactive restorative material (ACTIVA-Kids) were used. 13 samples
were prepared from each material using 10 mm diameter, 1.0 mm high polyethylene
molds. Each sample was placed in polyethylene tubes containing 10 ml of deionized
water. The amount of fluoride released from the samples was measured every day in the
first week and then weekly with an ion selective electrode. Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U-test were used for statistical evaluation of the data obtained in our study.
Results: The highest mean fluoride release value among all restorative materials
was determined in the glass carbomer group, followed by respectively conventional
glass ionomer, resin modified glass ionomer cement and ACTIVA bioactive material.
When the fluoride release values of the restorative materials were compared, no
statistically significant difference was observed between the materials on the 1st day
(p> 0.05), whereas there were statistically significant differences on the other days (p
<0.05). It was determined that there was a significant difference in the comparison of
fluoride release values of all materials in terms of days (p <0.05) and the highest
fluoride release of the materials was determined on the first day.
Conclusion: In the light of the findings we obtained from our research, we think
that the use of glass carbomer cements is especially suitable for patients with high caries
risk due to the highest fluoride release
