Amaç: Araştırmanın amacı, yenidoğan yoğun bakım ünitesinde yatan
prematüre bebeklerin annelerinde müziğin ve oksitosin masajının süt
salınımına etkisini değerlendirmektir.
Yöntem ve Gereç: Araştırma, 05.03.2018-14.08.2018 tarihleri arasında
Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Balcalı Hastanesi Yenidoğan Yoğun
Bakım Ünitesinde prematüre bebeği yatan 73 anne ile kendi-kendine
kontrollü deneysel bir çalışma olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma verileri
Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu, Spielberger’in Sürekli ve Durumluk Kaygı Ölçeği ve
Anne Sütü Takip Formu ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmada annelere müzik
dinletilmiştir ve oksitosin masajı uygulanmıştır ve sonrasında anne sütü
miktarı ölçülmüştür. Araştırmada verilerin analizinde, tanımlayıcı veriler
yüzdelik, aritmetik ortalama ± standart sapma ile gösterilmiştir. Veriler
Annelerin %42,5 lisans ve üzeri eğitime sahip oldukları, %41,1’i gelir getiren
Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of music and oxytocin
massage on breast milk secretion in mothers of premature babies in the
neonatal intensive care unit.
Materials and Methods: Designed in self-controlled experimental
type, the study was conducted with 73 mothers who had premature infants in
the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Balcali Hospital of Medical Faculty at
Çukurova University, between 5 March 2018 and 14 August 2018. The study
data were collected using an Information Form, Spielberger’s State-Trait
Anxiety Inventory (STAI I-II), and a Breast Milk Follow-up Form. In the
study, the mothers listened to music and were administered oxytocin massage
and after that, the amount of breast milk was measured. For the analysis of
the study data, descriptive data were shown using percentages, mean values ±,
and standard deviation. Data were evaluated by ANCOVA, Sidak multiple
comparison tests, and Pearson’s Correlation test. The statistical significance
level was accepted as 0.05.
Results: The mean age of the mothers participating in the study was
31.22 ± 5.82. It was determined that 42.5% of the mothers had undergraduate
or graduate education and that 41.1% were employed. The breast milk
quantity of the mothers measured after the sessions were 34.0 +13.7 ml in
control session, 35.0 +14.6 ml in the oxytocin massage session, and 37.5 +15.3
ml in the music session. Listening to music was the session that increased the
amount of mothers’ breast milk secretion much more than the oxytocin
massage session and the control session (p<0.05). It was found in this study
that mothers with premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit were
not anxious according to their STAI I mean scores (31.8 ± 6.6), those who were
in the control session (38.3 ± 10.8) and in the oxytocin massage session (37.3 ±
vi
11.0) were slightly anxious according to their STAI II mean scores and that
those in the music session were not anxious according to their state-trait
anxiety mean scores (33.0 ± 8.8). While the level of mothers’ State-Trait
Anxiety decreased in the oxytocin massage session and the music session, the
amount of their breast milk secretion increased.
Conclusion: In this study, it was found that music and oxytocin
massage increased the milk secretion and lowered STAI II levels of mothers
with premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. Music and oxytocin
massage has a positive effect on increasing breast milk, which has a very
important place in the growth of babies and decreasing the anxiety of mothers
relating to their premature babies
