Recently, TiO2 films which are promising materials and arousing great interest with
theirphysical, chemical and optical properties have an increasing popularity. The main
reason of thisis the existence of important potential applications of these films such as
solar cells, photocatalysts, gas sensors, optical coatings, opto-electronic and electro chromic devices. In this work,TiO2 films were produced by sol-gel spin coating technique.
Potential use of them in mentioned technological applications (especially photocatalytic
applications) was searched byinvestigating structural, surface and optical properties. The
thicknesses, refractive index and extinction coefficient values of the films were determined
by SpectroscopicEllipsometer, and optical properties such as transmittance and absorption
weredetermined by UV/Vis spectrophotometer. Also, band gaps of TiO2 thin films
werecalculated by using optical method. Structural properties of the films were
investigated byx-ray diffraction patterns. Possible deep trap levels which act as
recombination centerswere investigated by photoluminescence spectra of TiO2 films.
Atomic force microscopy was used to investigate the surface morphology of films
