Bu araştırma geç avangard olan Bernard Tschumi üzerinden, çağdaş mimaride
mimarlık ile mimari programın montaj yaklaşımlarınıı sorgular. Bunu yaparken, öncelikle
tarihsel süreçte, eser üretiminde montajı ana prensip olarak benimseyen tarihi avangardı
inceleyerek, avangardın ana karakteristiklerini belirler. Bu bağlamda, Bernard Tschumi’nin
mimarlığını etkilediği belirlenen Konstrüktivizm, Dada, Sürrealizm ve Situasyonisizm
akımları incelenir. Araştırlan bu tarihsel bağlam ile ilişki kurularak, Bernard Tschumi’nin
mimarlığında program ve montaj ilişkisi ile ilgili fikirleri; gerek mimarın kavramsal
yaklaşımlarını ifade eden makale, kitap ve röportajları, gerekse mimari tasarımları
üzerinden vaka analizi üzerinden detaylı şekilde analiz edilir. Tez, avangard sanat ve
montaj yaklaşımlarının çağdaş mimari üzerindeki etkilerini sorgulayarak, mimari program
ve montaj ilişkisinin tarihi süreci üzerinden günümüz ve geleceğin mimarisine etkilerini
sorgulamayı hedefler. Bu hedef geleceğin mimarisinde avangard, mimari program ve
montaj ilişkisi ile ilgli çalışacak araştırmacıları da desteklemeyi amaçlar
This thesis researches the relationship between montage and architecture in
Contemporary Architecture through the late avant-garde architect Bernard Tschumi’s
architecture as a case study. Due to the avant-garde movements have been using the
montage as their main technic at their works; this study starts with analyzing the avant garde movements with their history with defining the main characteristics of avant-garde
movements and question. At the second step, thesis researches Constructivism, Dada and
Surrealism, and Situationism as the avant-garde movements which effect Tschumi’s
architecture and focuses on the relationship between his architectural approaches and those
approaches through his articles, books, interviews and his designs. This thesis hopes to
clear the role of montage in architecture and programme and, also help the other
researchers who want to question about the future of architecture which it stands on the
roots of avant-garde theories, architectural programme, and montage. Keywords: Montage,
