In this study, the efficacy of Eisenia fetida, which is an epijeic species, in
vermicompost production has been tried to be revealed. In the study, approximately
500.000 earth soil samples were placed on the bed filled with bovine manure, which is
made of profile iron with a height of 66.5 cm, length 750 cm, width 125 cm and fermented
with organic wastes. The bed was placed on the profile feet with a height of 60.5 cm from
the ground. Parameters such as pH, temperature, humidity, population density in the bed
are kept under control to be optimal for the species. Bovine manure, which has been
seperated and enriched with herbal organic wastes, has been given as nutrients to the
earthquakes in the continuous flow system after the fermentation process. Then the
resulting fertilizer was cut from below with the scissor system.
As a result of the analysis of the obtained fertilizer, total organic matter amount was
64.2%, total humic and fulvic acid ratio was 42.9%, organic nitrogen 2.7%, total
phosphorus 0.46%, total potassium 0.83%, total magnesium 0.98%, total iron 0.43%. In
particular, the total amount of organic matter and total humic and fulvic acid ratio were
significantly higher than the agricultural lands of our country. In addition, the results of
heavy metal analysis were below the stated reference values.
At the end of the study, it was observed that E. fetida species was very suitable for
vermicompost production and the yield could be increased with different applications
