Bu çalışma, 1929 Büyük Ekonomik Buhranı etkisinde 1931- 1932 yılları
arasında, John Maynard KEYNES ile Friedrich August von HAYEK arasında
gerçekleşen iktisat teorisi ağırlıklı tartışmanın, iktisat literatürüne katkılarını
incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Söz konusu tartışma London School of Economics’in
Tartışmanın sonunda The Times dergisinde, teori boyutunu
Keynes’i “Genel Teori” nin içeriğini belirlemeye
iten unsuların başında söz konusu tartışmanın önemli olduğu, aynı zamanda makro
iktisadın mikro temellerinin incelenmeye başlamasında, tartışmanın anlamlı olduğu
sonucuna ulaşılmıştır
This study aims to investigate the contributions of the controversy, stirred
between John Maynard KEYNES and Friedrich August von HAYEK under the thumb
of 1929 Great Depression, to economics literature. The controversy includes not only
the articles published in Economica, the economics journal of London School of
Economics, but also personal writings. The articles that became daily political economic correspondence in The Times magazine were examined at the end of the
controversy. Mainly primary resources were used as well as secondary ones. The
controversy includes fundamental economic concepts such as the theory of capital, the
effects of interest rates on investments and savings, production structure, profit,
investor behavior as well as crises and business cycles. It is concluded that this
controversy is important at the beginning of the elements that lead Keynes to determine
the content of the “General Theory”, while at the same time, it is meaningful to discuss
the micro foundations of macroeconomics
