In this study, changes are observed in hardness, impact resistance and especially
wear parameters of the new structures which is obtained by adding vanadium and
molybdenum on high manganese austenitic steels. Vanadium and molybdenum are added
as %1 of total weight. As a result of adding vanadium as %1 of total weight and adding
molybdenum as %1 of total weight, six specimens are created in three different groups.
Initially, specimens are prepared for casting. After the casting, specimens are
waited 24 hours in under 1200 o
C for heat treatment for 24 hours and then they are cooled
to room temperature. After the heat treatment, surface treatments are applied to the cooled
specimens and impact resistance tests are exerted on specimens. Totally 9 hardness tests
are applied as 3 tests to each specimen in three different groups, wearing tests are applied.
Wearing tests are performed for two different loads and speed conditions. After wearing
tests stereo-microscope and XRD analyzes are used for characterizations.
As a result of the tests, austenitic manganese steels, that are used in industry
widely, are showed good increases in impact resistance, harness and wear resistance
features. In impact resistance tests, the specimen in which vanadium is added as %1 of the
total weight showed better performance than others. On the other hand, in harness and
wear resistance tests showed that the specimen in which molybdenum is added as %1 of
the total weight is better than others
