üzerine etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla 2017 yılında Eskişehir’in Alpu ilçesinde
This study was conducted to determine the effect of different doses of nitrogen and
sulphur on beet yield and sugar content of sugar beet in the Alpu district of Eskişehir
conditions in 2017. Nitrogen doses were used as control, 5, 10 and 15 kg/da and sulphur
doses at 0, 25, 50 and 75 kg/da. The experiment was designed in a split plots of
randomized complete blocks with four replicates. Root diameter, root length, root weight,
root yield, sugar content, sugar yield and changes in soil reaction (pH) were investigated.
The results of the research showed that root weight and sugar yield were significantly
affected by sulphur doses and nitrogen doses considerably influenced the root weight and
root yield of sugar beet. Increasing nitrogen doses improved the root weight from 1,32 kg
to 1,59 kg and the root yield from 8,61t/da to 10,04 t/ha. No significant effects of nitrogen
and sulphur doses on root diameter and sugar content were determined. The highest root
yield (11,17 ton/da) and sugar yield (147,5 kg/da) were obtained from the application of 15
kg N/da + 75 kg S/da. Decreasing in soil pH at the doses of 50 and 75 kg S/da was found
insignificant. It was concluded that the nitrogen dose of 15 kg/da should be recommended
for high root yield in sugar beet while the limited effects of sulphur on root yield and soil
pH were observed
