In this thesis, doped zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films have coated on various substrates
using non – reactive thermionic vacuum arc (TVA) method. Glass and polyethylene
terephthalate (PET) have been preferred as substrate materials. Accordingly, these substrates
are known as insulating and transparent materials, respectively. In this investigation, 5
separate experiments were carried out for each substrate and totally, 10 different experiments
were performed to obtain doped ZnO thin films. All determined and remarkable parameters
are fixed during the experiment procedure. The structural, optical and surface properties of
the doped ZnO thin films obtained by the analysis techniques and devices were studied.
Using Filmetrics F20 apparatus, thickness values of the prepared thin films were measured
between 10-28 nm. The crystallite sizes of the prepared samples vary between 10 nm and 28
nm. As a result of the optical results, the optical band gap energy (Eg) ranges were calculated
according to the Tauc method and by using of the absorption values. In this research and
based on the results, the lowest and highest Eg values of the samples were belonging to Si
doped (3.2 eV) and Cr doped ZnO (3.9 eV) thin films, respectively. Atomic force microscopy
and field emission electron microscopy devices were used to study the surface features.
Regarding to the surface analysis results, it is found that the samples deposited on PET
substrates are in a smoother and symmetrical structure related to the glass ones
