In this study, how woman took place in poetry through the period of literature after the Reform till Republic was scrutinized by thematic classification.
Turkish poetry undergoes a change after the Reform. Most of the poets seek for a thematic innovation even they use verse format of the Ottoman poetry. All is prevalent for woman in poetry. Accordingly, starting with the second generation of the Reform, the embodiment of woman and the idea of giving place to the woman living in social life gradually become widespread.
With National Literature movement, the theme of foreign woman used by Abdulhak Hamid and the succeeding poets, give its place to Turkish beauty and darlings. Additionally, 1890s are the period we witness the last periods of the Ottoman Empire. Therefore, young girls try to earn their lives under harsh conditions in the country struggling with the war and famine. The mothers who send their sons to war for their country have a heavy cross to bear. Finally, in these days when national feelings have risen, almost every poet uses the theme of mother-country and darling-country.
