The idea of covering spaces is very important in topological spaces which found applications in related disciplines such as differential geometry, the theory of Lie groups and
the theory of Riemann surfaces. This idea is also closely connected with the study of
fundamental group. several topological problems about covering spaces can be reduced to
algebraic problems on the fundamental groups of the concerned spaces. It would be practically impossible to give a complete exposition of either one of these two topics without
also taking up the other.
Let X be a topological space, a covering space of X consists of a space Xf and a continuos map p of Xf onto X which satisfies a certain very strong smoothness requirement.
This thesis consists of six main chapters. In the first chapter homotopy structure
is introduced and its basic properties are given. In the second chapter homotopy types
ara examined and in the next chapter, connected spaces are given. In the fourth chapter
fundamental group of circles is computed and the last chapter we give the relationship
between covering spaces nad fundamental groups
